In economic times when people have stopped buying and building, the optimistically named building company “No Regrets” is zooming ahead.

Last week the company put the pedal to the metal and broke ground at 1020 Capitol Street, across from the Dusty Boot Steakhouse and Saloon and just down from the Capitol Theater in Eagle Ranch.

“We are going to move forward. Construction is on sale right now and we are going to take advantage of that opportunity,” said Kyle Webb, an owner and architect of the building.

In keeping with the old town feel of Eagle Ranch, Webb decided to model the building after a 1920s car dealership.

“There were very dynamic buildings in the 1920s,” said Webb. “We wanted the building to stand out from the rest of Eagle Ranch.”

Though modeled after a 1920s building, 1020 Capitol St. will employ current green construction standards including installation of solar panels on the roof.

The building will garage a 2,600 square foot restaurant with a showroom look to it; two retail stores and two condominiums, with large decks overlooking open space.
One of the condominiums is already under contract and the developers, a local limited partnership, also are encouraged about the retail spaces and restaurant.

“We have seen a high level of interest in the restaurant for the past six months,” said Barbara Scrivens, co-owner of 1020 Capitol Street.

The building is slated to be completed by the summer of 2009.

“We look forward to 1020 Capitol opening its doors and creating a true downtown experience, with several restaurants and night life options from which locals can choose,” said Scrivens.
