Eagle County is in the process of updating its Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan, as required by the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA). This plan requires a public review and comment period prior to adoption. Visit www.eaglecounty.us/emergency to review the document. Comments can be submitted to emergency@eaglecounty.us and will be accepted until Oct. 31.
Once the plan has been refined and adopted by all participating entities and approved by FEMA, it will enable jurisdictions to apply for funds to complete projects that reduce the impact of hazards such as wildfires and flooding before they occur. For more information, contact Eagle County Emergency Management Director Barry Smith at (970) 328-3545.
