Lots of suspicions
Eagle Police were called to the site of a medical marijuana dispensary in town last week on a report of a suspicious vehicle at the location. While the officer was en route, she spotted a vehicle matching the call's description heading southbound on Eby Creek Road. The officer proceeded to follow the car as it turned on to Church Street. The officer noted the driver failed to stop at the stop sign at Church and Second streets before pulling into an adjacent parking lot.
When the officer stopped the driver for the traffic violation he apologized for running the stop sign. The driver said he knew the officer planned to pull him over so he simply pulled into the parking lot. When asked why he thought the police planned to stop him, the driver admitted to running the red light at Chambers Avenue and Eby Creek Road.
The driver also admitted he did not have insurance or a vehicle registration. He claimed he was in the process of purchasing the vehicle. After a check of his record, the officer found out the man didn't have a driver's license, either, because it had been canceled because he had an unpaid ticket.
When questioned about the activity at the medical marijuana dispensary that led to the call, the driver said he had just visited the business and obtained product. While he did not have a medical marijuana card, he did have a physician's certification to purchase items at the dispensary.
The police officer confiscated the marijuana for safekeeping. The driver was issued citations for driving without a license, failure to stop at a stop sign and driving without insurance.
