Lost truck ... not
EAGLE, Colorado — Eagle Police were sent to a local hotel last week on a report of a stolen pickup truck, but upon arrival the officer found an overwrought, confused and apparently intoxicated woman.Police responded to the vehicle theft call around 11:45 p.m. When the officer arrived, he asked the woman to identify herself and asked what she thought could have happened to the truck. According to the police report, the woman immediately became confrontational and attempted to walk away. She said she had been inside her hotel room all evening.
According to the report, the officer eventually convinced the woman to sit down on a curb and talk. The officer noted he was concerned about the woman's safety and mental state.
She gave the officer her name, but later changed what she told him. As he attempted to get the woman to talk about the vehicle's whereabouts, she became angry about the situation and started criticizing police in general. Eventually, she tried to run away, according to the report.
The officer caught up with the woman and caught her by the wrists. She began to hit him on the chest and the officer told her he was placing her in protective custody. After a struggle, the officer put the woman in his patrol car and took her to the county jail.
A check of the woman's record uncovered an active protective order prohibiting her from consuming alcohol.
After placing her in custody, the officer contacted the woman's husband. The husband said he and his wife had been involved in a verbal argument that morning and she had left their home. He was surprised to learn she had checked into a local hotel.
After the arrest, the officer returned to the hotel and located the woman's truck in the parking lot. It was unlocked and loaded with personal belongings.
The woman was charged with the protective order violation, resisting arrest and second degree assault on a police officer.
Noise complaint goes bad
Last week Eagle Police responded to an assault report at Eagle Ranch that began when one roommate asked another to keep his voice down.According to the report, at about 3:30 p.m. a man was trying to get his 2-year-old down for a nap but one of his roommates was talking too loud. The father claimed he asked the other man to quiet down, but the roommate responded by threatening him and punching him in the face. The father said he was holding his child at the time.
The father retreated to his bedroom and called police, the report said.
The responding officer spoke to a female who also lives at the dwelling and she confirmed the basic story, but described the assault as a slap rather than a punch.
The accused roommate admitted he got angry when asked to quiet down, but denied any physical confrontation.
The roommate was issued a ticket for harassment and at the request of the other two occupants, he was told to leave the residence.
Miscellaneous mischief
• An officer who was parked along Grand Avenue last week took off after a vehicle when it passed him while playing an extremely loud stereo. When stopped, the driver acknowledged his music was too loud because he was upset. He was unable to provide a driver's license and initially gave a false name. The man eventually gave the officer his real name and confessed his license was under suspension for driving under the influence. He was arrested for driving with a revoked license and disturbing the peace.• An officer patrolling through a residential area in town spotted a youth ‘mooning' other kids. When confronted, the 10-year-old told the officer he knew what he was doing was wrong, but that his friends had dared him to do it. The officer contacted the boy's mother, who said she would take care of discipline in the incident.
