EAGLE, Colorado — The family of Luke Dillon is asking for help as the former Eagle resident mounts a fight against brain cancer.
Dillon moved to the valley when he was in second grade with his mother, Cheryl McQuaid, and stepfather David Butler.
“Maybe you remember him from fourth grade when he was such a class clown that everyone thought he was kidding when he actually choked on a cookie,” said his sister Sarah Mills. “Maybe you remember the talent show emcee that made everyone laugh. Maybe you played hockey with him, listened to his band, or witnessed his back stage antics at the annual dance recital at Alpine Academy, his family's dance studio.”
Dillon was a member of the Class of 2007 from Vail Christian High School and he has been attending college in Boston. A few weeks ago, he was diagnosed with malignant brain cancer. Doctors operated on the cancer in a six hour surgery on June 4 and will be following it up with many rounds of chemotherapy and radiation.
“To know Luke is to laugh, and you will not be surprised that he is even joking about the cancer, telling his friends to ‘get their own,'” Mills said.
A spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Luke was held July 1 and a bank account has been established in Dillon's name at Alpine Bank to accept donations.
