EAGLE, Colorado — Eagle County Schools officials plan to replace natural grass with sport turf on two Gypsum fields, including the football field at Eagle Valley High School, school board president Scott Green said.
The school district will cover a majority of the funds for the $1.4 million project. Gypsum town officials this week also committed $150,000 to the project and the school district plans to ask the Western Eagle County Metropolitan District for a $150,000 contribution, Green said.
The sport turf at the high school is part of a stadium improvement project school officials approved during last month's board meeting. Dale Collett, a representative from Professional Turf Solutions in Durango, said he intends to install the turf by Saturday, Aug. 29.
Turf also will replace grass on a 165,000-square-foot field behind the town of Gypsum building in the municipal sport complex.
