Letter: Looks forward to the Enterprise

I am enclosing a check for $35 to renew my subscription. The additional $5 is because I know postage rates have increased and I appreciate your paper so much I don't want to miss a single copy.

As I may have said in an earlier reply, I spent my younger years in Minturn and married a young lady who was born in Minturn. We left in 1942 to spend the rest of our lives together in Salinas, Calf. Mary passed in February 2008.

We acquired a small cabin at Wolcott many years ago and we made both summer and fall visits to vacation and fly fish. My brother-in-law, James Cline, has a home just across the Eagle River and caretakes our cabin. When we received the paper, we always first looked at “Those Were the Days.” I still do, and enjoy seeing many familiar names of persons I once knew. I closely follow the town of Eagle news. Mary's mother, Stella Cline, spent many years living in Eagle after her husband died. Of course, she was the center attraction of our visits for a number of years. We enjoyed the community church and the wonderful people who attended. I also now enjoy Pastor Brent Merten's “On Eagles Wings” in each edition and the rest of the local news.

Thanks to all the staff for keeping the paper and a tradition alive and well. I look forward to reading every weekly edition. It always brings back wonderful memories. I pass the paper on to my younger sister, Dorothy Jane, who also now lives in Salinas along with her husband and family. It might interest you to know that we both graduated from Minturn High School at the old building in Minturn in the 1930s.

With best wishes for your continued success.
