So many contests, entertainment and deals are planned for the Gypsum Creek Golf Course and Big Valley Steakhouse & Sportsbar grand opening on Saturday that the scene might resemble something from the 1980 movie “Caddyshack.” About the only thing guests won't find, hopefully, will be the havoc-wreaking gopher, a.k.a. “Varmint Cong.”
The June 19 fun will tee off with two-for-one golf all day, starting at 7 a.m. Other golf offerings will include free lessons in various disciplines from 2 to 6 p.m. (some of the lessons are only offered until 4 p.m.).
Anyone golfing that day will be eligible for the Longest Drive and Pro-Shop Challenge. The winner will receive a free round for four to Gypsum Creek.
There will also be a closest-to-the-pin contest at 7 p.m., with cash and a 10-play pass going to the victor. Contestants must register in advance at the pro-shop.
